WWE Payback 2015 Results: Did Seth Rollins Retain WWE World Heavyweight Championship?
WWE presents the 2015 edition of its Payback pay-per-view from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore and features a main event of a Fatal Four Way match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship with Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Randy Orton.
On the pre-show, R-Truth defeats Stardust with the Lie Detector.
The Ascension defeats The Meta Powers with the Fall of Man.
The main show begins, and Sheamus defeats a bloodied Dolph Ziggler with a Brogue Kick for the win.
Backstage, Kane is on the phone when Rollins walks into the room. He asks Kane to put their problems behind them and work together tonight. They bicker until Kane says that the WWE World Heavyweight Champion might need to lose what he holds most precious in order to grow. Kane says he doesn't need to keep his job, so he'd be fine with watching Rollins lose. Kane says he hasn't decided what he'll do yet, but Rollins tells him that getting fired would be nothing compared to what Rollins would do to him if he loses.
The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E w/Xavier Woods) defeats Tyson Kidd and Cesaro (w/Natalya) to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships in a two-out-of-three falls match. Kidd and Cesaro win the first fall with their Giant Swing/dropkick combo. Big E and Kofi use a double team move to get the second fall, and they pick up the third and decisive one when Xavier Woods sneaks in to take Kofi's place and rolls up Cesaro.
Byron Saxton briefly interviews Ryback, who says he isn't scared of Bray Wyatt.
Wyatt defeats Ryback by shoving him into an exposed turnbuckle and planting him with Sister Abigail.
John Cena defeats Rusev in an I Quit match to retain the WWE United States Championship. Rusev had Cena in the Accolade and the champ passed out, but this did not count as quitting. So a frustrated Rusev uncovers the turnbuckle and unhooks the top rope. He grabs some water to wake up Cena and tries to hit him with the turnbuckle post, but Cena dodges. He locks in the STF with the help of the rope, but Rusev won't quit. An upset Lana grabs a microphone and says that Rusev quits.
The New Day celebrates backstage and Byron Saxton informs them that they will defend their titles inside the Elimination Chamber at the end of the month. They don't take this news well.
Naomi and Tamina Snuka defeat The Bella Twins when Tamina throws Brie Bella into the barricade, which allows Naomi to yank Nikki Bella off the top turnbuckle for the win.
Lana is sitting down backstage as Rusev berates her. He tells her to leave and trashes the room.
Neville defeats King Barrett by count out when he hits a moonsault onto the outside. Neville gets back into the ring but Barrett just walks away. After the bell, he attacks Neville and celebrates, but the high flyer recovers, suplexes Barrett, and hits the Red Arrow.
Seth Rollins retains the WWE World Heavyweight Championship when he Pedigrees Randy Orton after a brief distraction by Kane, who helped the champ throughout the match. This match featured a ton of cool spots, including a Shield Triple Powerbomb to Orton through the announce table, two powerbombs by Reigns and Ambrose to Kane on top of Rollins through the Spanish announce table, and the usual chaos that accompanies a Fatal Four Way.
