Back by popular demand, the iconic sci-fi/horror series will premiere on Fox in 2016. Writer/director Darin Morgan is expected to return with the paranormal investigators Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) in the highly anticipated revival of The X-Files.

As we previously mentioned, 13 years have passed since FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were on the TV screen solving weird and supernatural cases. The reboot of Fox's popular sci-fi series continues with 6 brand new episodes. Not only are the leads set to reprise their iconic roles, creator Chris Carter will takeover as showrunner for the franchise that launched his and many other careers.

According to TV Line, another important X-Files future is returning to the show. Writer Darin Morgan is returning for next January's six-episode revival on Fox. The Millennium scribe wrote the classic episode, José Chung's From Outer Space. Morgan also guest starred as Flukeman in the terrifying second season episode, The Host. He will return to write for next January's six-episode stint, which could be a standalone or mythology.

Unfortunately, there is no news to update about writer-producer Frank Spotnitz, who co-wrote the second The X-files feature, I Want To Believe. Spotnitz also reinvented the classic Night Stalker series on ABC.

The TV Line critic states, "I'm getting conflicting info about Spotnitz' role in the revival, which is why his name has been crossed out. Stay tuned as I dig further..."

As we mentioned before, production of The X-Files 6 episode run is scheduled to start this summer. The episodes are scheduled to run during the midseason, during January 2016.
