Bobby Flay Ex-Wife, ‘Law & Order SVU' Star Stephanie March Calls Celebrity Chef Out in Courtroom
Bobby Flay's divorce got a bit dicier on Thursday after a meeting with a judge didn't go as planned. Insie the courtroom, Flay's ex-wife, Law & Order SVU star Stephanie March laid into the famous chef after she spotted him talking to reporters in a courthouse hallway.
In that courtroom, March went after him, his lawyer Nance Chemtob, and publicist Julie Halpin.
"This is what you call not talking to the press? You bring your P.R. person to talk to the press," she said.
March's lawyer then went on an offensive of her own. Deborah Lans reminded Flay's defense team and Supreme Court Justice Matthew Cooper that Flay was just ordered not to speak to the press. It only took minutes to violate that according to March.
When the divorce proceedings started, March claimed that she helped make Flay famous. According to her, she served as a taste taster for Flay's expanding restaurant business for more than a decade. It's due to this that Flay, who is worth more than $20 million, has to make monthly payments of up to $5,000 to his now ex-wife.
The divorce has been a mess long before his ex-wife's court meltdown. Flay took offense to March's lawyer when she claimed Flay bullied March into a settlement. Flay says it was Stephanie's lawyer who was doing the bullying by publicly airing his personal issues - with one of those issues being allegations that he cheated on his wife.
While Flay believes his ex is making things harder, March's lawyer is saying something completely different.
"Stephanie is terribly upset by what she has been reading in the paper," she said. "I would say that what Bobby's lawyer and his friends are saying is a combination of speculation and projection on their part."
