'Silicon Valley' Season 2: Ep 7 Recap: Will Thomas Middleditch's Richard Find "Adult Content?"
From the comedic mind of Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-head), Season 2 of Silicon Valley continues on HBO. In Episode 7, will Erlich Bachman (T.J. Miller), Richard Hendriks (Thomas Middleditch), and the rest of the tech gang find themselves engaging in 'Adult Content?'
Richard and his friends meet the tech gang, Endframe, who stole this algorithm. Even though their algorithm has flaws, Endframe is ready to push forward and beat Pied Piper. Endframe has a sales team with more than 40 people who can help make them money.
Gavin Belson (Matt Ross) is still reeling from the UFC live stream disaster. Because his investors are mad at him, Belson promises an innovation to Nucleus that will make their problems go away. Unfortunately, he needs Big Head (Josh Brener) and the rest of Hooli's XYZ team to come up with that innovative idea for him.
Russ Hanneman (Chris Diamantopoulos) reveals to Erlich and Richard that he lost a fortune over bad investments. Russ has been kicked out of the three commas club because he is no longer a billionaire. In order to get back his wealth, Russ wants Pied Piper to merge with Endframe and fix their flawed algorithm; doing all the work for them.
Meanwhile, Dinesh (Kumail Nanjiani) has been flirting online with a girl. Dinesh has been pretending to be cultured and out-going, even though he's the exact opposite. Unfortunately, when Dinesh actuals meets the girl in person, she turns out to be Erlich's ex. Dinesh's hookup turns into Erlich's as he spends the night with his reunited lover.
After leaving Russ' surprise meeting with Endframe, Richard finds himself at odds with his investor. The only way Richard can get out of his contract with Russ is if he outbids him. Gilfoyle (Martin Starr) though thinks he has found a way to beat Endframe at their own game.
Monica (Amanda Crew) is in the room when Gilfoyle admits he has stolen Endframe's business proposals. One of the executives from Endframe left their security password on a post-it note. Because pornography is the best-selling business, Endframe intends on working with an adult company and using their algorithm to upload the videos.
Richard then goes to a panel, where he meets with the business owner of the adult company. He promises that Pied Piper can upload the videos at a faster rate than Endframe. If he doesn't get the deal with the adult company, Pied Piper goes belly up. Richard needs this deal to happen for their survival.
Back at Hooli, Belson hears out Big Head's idea for an ear bud that uses brainwaves to control their Hooli phones. Big Head believes the integration will happen sometime in their lifetime. Big Head's only other idea is his potato launcher, which is already broken.
The tech gang from Endframe are surprised to see the boys from Pied Piper at their business meeting. A contest has been setup for Endgame and Pied Piper. Competing against each other, whoever's algorithm is the fastest will land the lucrative business deal.
