The Associated Press reports that following the announcement, Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny stated, "With today's vote, we have disclosed who we are: a generous, compassionate, bold and joyful people."

Ireland's pro-gay marriage vote was an outstanding victory, with more than 1.2 million people voting 'yes' to the bill, and less than 750,000 opposing.
