Agent, Justin Tackett Shot Woman 10 Times: Valeria "Munique" Tachiquin Alvarado Suffers 14 Wounds, Said To Be On Meth In Autopsy
On September 28, Valeria "Munique" Tachiquin Alvarado was shot an killed after she hit a Border Patrol agent in Southern California. The mother of five was shot 1o times as he tried to get her to stop her car. Alvarado's blood came out positive for methamphetamine at 0.1 milligram per liter.
According to an autopsy report released, the 32-year-old was shot 10 times which caused 14 gunshot wounds to her upper body, but some bullets may have caused more than one wound. Alvarado's gunshot wounds were seen as a homicide according to the autopsy report.
Police say that Alvarado fled a friend's apartment in Chula Vista after authorities arrived for a warrant for someone else. When she tried to escape she struck and drove with an agent on the hood for 200 yards in her Honda Accord. The agent held on and broke the windshield firing his gun until she stopped.
The victim's family filed wrongful death against the Border Patrol and say that the agent that killed her has a long history of misconduct on the job. The family's attorney, Eugene Iredale said agent Justin Tackett, was suspended multiple times for numerous violations. While Tackett worked as an Imperial County sheriff's deputy, he crashed a patrol car and violated suspects.
The National Border Patrol Council, are standing behind Tackett and say that he acted properly. According to the Huffington Post another Border Patrol official said the agent feared for his life.
