According to Welcome to Twin Peaks (via Gamma Squad), the two returning actresses confirmed that Lynch would be directing the 18-episode return series, premiering next year on the premium cable channel.
When asked if the new episodes were being filmed in the original Washington setting of the iconic series, Fenn confirmed, "we're shooting there, 100%," adding, "[David's] already come here. They're redoing the R&R Diner to look exactly like it did in the show, and then the owners of the diner are going to keep it that way."
According to Slash Film, the actress called the development process a "roller coaster," especially with Lynch jumping off and then back onto the project, but added that things are coming together for the upcoming season.
She added: "And 18 episodes now, even!"
Meanwhile, the Laura Palmer actress, Lee opened up about her new role considering the amount of time that has gone by.
"I know that I'm coming back now, but I don't know how, and I may not know until I show up for the first day," Lee said.
