According to some Reddit sleuths over at ComicBook.com, Butterfield has been on the popular website responding to some threads concerning his casting as the new Spider-Man.
MoviePilot reports that Asa has been using a username he verified two years ago for an AMA, so yes, it's him.
One of the biggest teases is when he responded "I'm so down" when another user asked if he was into the idea of portraying Spider-Man. This might seem like an obvious answer, but the actor is being very vague in his responses, which doesn't really support nor oppose this casting rumor.
If he's really about to be announced as the new Peter Parker, he's simply teasing fans. If he's not getting the job, he's having some fun with it. These are the only assumptions we can and should make at this point in time.
