Top 5 Worst Moments from Supernatural Season 10

Season 10 of the CW's Supernatural concluded Season 10 recently, and for a show that was on the bubble for years at a time, that's an impressive accomplishment. But the series is a little long in the tooth, and there were definitely some less-than-stellar moments throughout the course of this year.

So without further ado, allow us to present our Top 5 Worst Moments from Supernatural Season 10.

5) The Butler Episode

After the stellar 200th episode, the show decided to reference Bobby Singer by having Dean find one of his old cell phones, which led them to a case in New Canaan, Connecticut. Supernatural has struggled with its Monster of the Week episodes in recent seasons, and this was one of the worst. The idea of Sam and Dean interjecting themselves into a WASPy family in Connecticut sounds hilarious on paper, but the execution here was terrible. The guest stars in this episode were horrendous actors, and the plot was dull. Coming off the high of the 200th episode, this was a major disappointment.

4) Sheriff Donna

Sheriff Jody Mills has been a great addition to the cast because she balances out the testosterone of the series with some much-needed estrogen. She has nowhere near Sam and Dean's wealth of experience when it comes to hunting, but she's a strong ally and has a motherly "take no BS" attitude when it comes to the two of them.

So Jody wasn't the problem with the episode "Hibbing 911." Instead, we were re-introduced to Sheriff Donna Hanscum, a minor character we saw back in another forgettable episode, "The Purge." (Remember that episode where Sam and Dean fought a fat-sucking monster at a health club? Yeah...) Donna was a one-note character for whom we're supposed to feel sympathy and for whom we're supposed to cheer when she triumphantly kills a vampire at the end of the episode. But instead, we suffered through an hour of an irritating minor character placed in the spotlight.

3) The Internet Ghost

"Halt and Catch Fire" might have been the most ridiculous Supernatural episode ever, and that's saying something for a series that once had Paris Hilton as a Monster of the Week and Snooki as a demon. The plot of the episode featured a ghost who accessed a nearby Wi-Fi tower when he was killed, which allowed him to access the Internet and murder people through their computers. This episode is evidence that Supernatural might be better served cutting down to 13 episodes a season instead of 22 to tighten up the story and remove some of the filler.

2) Metatron

Metatron was a fantastic addition to the series in Season 8 because he brought weight and gravitas with him as the scribe of God. He's ancient and powerful and devious and cunning. This is why his returns this year were ultimately disappointing. Sure, Metatron managed to get out with the demon tablet in his final appearance this year, but the times he showed up this year just somehow felt lesser after his role as the Big Bad in Season 9. He'll almost assuredly be back next season, but in what capacity?

1) Too Much Brotherly Co-Dependence

Sam and Dean always have been and always will be the centerpiece of the show. Their relationship and their love for each other has literally saved the world. But this season it really went over the top.

Sam doesn't trust Dean and probably never will after the whole angel possession storyline from last season. But he still loves him and still needs him in his life. Except this time, his desire to save his brother cost lives and may have even destroyed the very world they have saved. Sam plunged headlong into his quest to remove the Mark of Cain regardless of the consequences. Charlie is dead. The Darkness has been released. At what point does the co-dependence become too much? We may have reached that point this year.
