PA Woman Shot Over Cigarettes By 14-Year-Olds: Kayla Peterson, 22 Dies In Boyfriends Arms After 'Get A Job' Comment
Two 14-year-old boys, Todavia Cleckley and Marcus Velasquez and 13-year-old Kyle Goosby Jr. are charged with criminal homicide and other charges after killing a woman over cigarettes.
The 22-year-old woman, Kayla Peterson said a few words to the boys after they harassed her boyfriend, Bill Bailey about his cigarettes. Brock Edwards who was working at the convenience store was at the scene when Bailey walked in with the harassers, "My friend came in and got cigarettes, and three young kids followed him. They kept following him and asking him for a cigarette."
After leaving the store, the teenagers followed Bailey a couple blocks home when Peterson walked outside and told the boys to get a job, "The next thing you know, they just pull out a gun and shoot for no reason. It was just over a cigarette," Edwards said. "Now, my friend lost his girlfriend -- an amazing, amazing girl, and she was such a good mother, too -- and now her child has to grow up without her mother being there."
In an interview with Channel 4 Action News, Bailey talked about the mother of his 23--month-old daughter last moments, "She didn't even move when it happened," Bailey said, "She just said, 'I can't feel my legs.' She wanted to lay down, so I laid her down."
Struggling to explain what happened to tell his daughter, Ellieonna what happened to her mother he say, "I just tell her her mom was an angel and was taken away way too soon. She devoted her life to my daughter," he said.
