'Justified' Season 6 Cast: Sam Elliott Wins For Avery Markham At 2015 Critics Choice Awards!
Based on the crime novels by the late author Elmore Leonard, the Season 6 series finale of Justified finally aired. After the FX drama delivered its swan song, Sam Elliott won for his acclaimed role as the scene-stealing antagonist, Avery Markham, at the 2015 Critics Choice Awards.
In our finale recap, Boyd threw dynamite to escape the marshals as he blasted his way through Avery Markham (Elliott) to get to Ava. Though Raylan was tempted to pull his gun, he decided to arrest Boyd instead. After an intense shootout with Boon (Jonathan Tucker) left him wounded, Raylan was unable to stop Ava from escaping.
In the four year jump, Raylan is a happily divorced father taking care of his daughter. Knowing Ava is raising Boyd's son, Raylan promised to keep her secret and falsified her death. In prison, Boyd and Raylan realized they are still best friends, ever since they dug coal together.
As we previously mentioned, Justified took the lead with 5 nominations at the fifth annual Critics' Choice Television Awards. Not only was the cast nominated for Best Actor (Timothy Olyphant), Best Supporting Actor (Walton Goggins), Best Supporting Actress (Joelle Carter), the show itself earned a Best Drama Series nomination. Goggins was also nominated for his guest-starring work on the final season of Sons of Anarchy.
According to TV Line, The Big Lebowski actor won the award for Guest Performer in a Drama Series. Elliott beat Goggins, Lois Smith from The Americans, and Julianne Nicholson from Masters of Sex.
FX took home four wins, while AMC, Amazon, Fox and Comedy Central picked up at least two.
