Lena Dunham, Charlize Theron & Emmy Rossum Get Wrapped In LE Trench by Dior's Dianne Vavra
Christian Dior’s beauty maven Dianne Vavra knows how to communicate style and now she’s creating it too! Her own capsule collection of chic trench coats, LE Trench, has already caught the eyes of celebrities including Lena Dunham, Charlize Theron, Emmy Rossum, Naomi Watts, Jessica Alba, Abigail Spencer and many more.
She didn’t go to design school, she doesn’t sew on her time off, she’s not a starlet or a relative of one. Dianne Vavra is a natural in the fashion world.Known for her own personal style and an enviable vintage clothing collection—the New York Times fashionographer Bill Cunningham features her monthly—Dior Beauty’s senior vice president of press relations has genuine taste and the talent to spin it into success.
Her latest endeavor was inspired by a 1950’s leopard trench she discovered at a secret address in Paris. “Everything about it was spot on—the length, just above the knee, the bracelet sleeves and the collar, up or down it frames what is or isn’t on your neck,” says Vavra. “I made a few small improvements from deeper pockets to covered buttons and, most importantly, I wanted it to be machine washable. After all, I’m a very practical girl!” The silhouette, well, it works for the 5’10” model and for the 5’4” mama, it’s flattering from every angle and on every body type...for a change. Lena Dunham posted her snakeskin version ("Le Serpent") on Instagram, Teen Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Amy Astley posed in front of the new Condé Nast building at 1 World Trade Center and Angie Harmon sent a personal thank you!

If Le Serpent speaks to the adventurous side of a woman, "Le Noir" whispers mystery in all black. Le Rouge is that perfect shade of red that almost turns neutral in its versatility, like a red lipstick or nail polish, like the designer’s favorite Dior Diorific Lipstick in "Dolce Vita" lip or Dior Vernis Gel in "Pandora." And yes, these beauty products replaced the typical “Pantone” chip as the color match samples in production. If you’re wondering which color way is right for you, some women order all three.
“Of course, they are my go-to, whether I’m running around with my kids or hosting a dinner for the Oscar’s, one of them always adds the wow,” says Vavra. Indeed, in the season of sunshine or thunderstorms, chilly nights or cool indoors, LE Trench is that classic head-turner that pulls your look all together.
What’s next for LE-Trench? “There’s something so collectible about having the first” says Vavra. "I’ve re-ordered the three styles twice since we launched earlier this year.” She certainly knows her stuff, like Apple, the rumors indicate an homage to the original leopard might be on the way, but who knows when it will show up. Either way, check out www.le-trench.com, there’s no doubt the new trench will be the highlight of our vintage collections in 20 years!
