'Planetside 2' PS4 Gameplay, Release Date News: Free-to-Play Online Shooter Premieres June 2015!

According to new reports, Planetside 2 is moving out of Beta testing towards the end of this month and release on PlayStation 4. With a newly announced release date set for June 23, 2015, PS4 gamers will get to experience the highly anticipated gameplay of this massive, free-to-play online shooter which has broken the Guinness Book record for having the most online players engaged in a single battle. This news came straight from the official PlayStation Blog, which explained that this PS4 title will have exclusive content different from the PC version, including a new battle map and more (via IGN)!

"The game is synonymous with large-scale warfare and it's truly an experience you have to see to believe. Plus, as a free-to-play game, all players can jump into the game's massive battles for free - no PlayStation Plus membership required," the blog post states. "We've put a lot of effort into streamlining and improving the feature set so that PlayStation 4 players will have the ultimate massive-scale, FPS gaming experience. We've also incorporated some unique features that are currently exclusive to the PS4 version, which for example, include the new battle map, Koltyr."

This informative blog post continued: "In the weeks and months following the release on June 23, players can look forward to frequent game updates, which will include deeper features, holiday events and content, new in-game marketplace items and much, much more."
