What's absolutely clear about this new movie is that it's in the right hands. Trevorrow has adamantly professed his love and respect for the original franchise, and even called his reboot project a tribute to Spielberg. But can the relatively new director lead the fight in establishing a new movie franchise with Jurassic World?
In a recent interview with IGN, Trevorrow explained that Universal Studios is looking for exactly that with this 2015 blockbuster.
"I think what [Universal] wanted the most was to have it identified as a franchise again, Trevorrow revealed ahead of the release of his new movie. "That was the top priority. Can you take this and bring it back into the forefront of people's minds? When they think of what the big franchises out there right now they're going to say Avengers, Star Wars, and then Jurassic Park is in that arena. Tall order. I knew the only way to do it was to create a singular experience that worked on its own - that would give people that same feeling."
Though he won't return for the sequel, Trevorrow also said he'd still be involved in the rest of the franchise he hopes to create with this new movie.
