Trinidad James Isn’t Celebrating the Record Deal With Def Jam Yet, Focus Is On Work, Not Cars
Rookie rapper Trinidad James is not the one who chills out when there is work to be done and he is not the flashy rapper who keeps changing his cars. James, after signing a record deal with Def Jam, is busy focusing on his work rahter than out celebrating.
"I mean, I don't really celebrate things like this. I just thank God for it and keep moving. I was already grinding and working, doing my thing so just in general this isn't doing nothing but adding more feel to the feeling I already had," said James, Sohh reported.
James got a joint venture deal that is said to be worth $2 million. That is quite a big amount considering he is still a rookie.
It's only been a couple of months since James came out with his "All Gold Everything" single and debut mixtape, "Don't Be S.A.F.E." in October. He was the most soughtafter rapper who was yet be signed in until Def Jam walked in and signed him up.
"We sat down with everybody," Trinidad James' manager, Fly, told CBS Local. "We went with Def Jam because it's credible. They breed hip-hop culture. And at the end of the day, the deal terms were right. ... The thing about it is, you have to be able to change. If you can't change, you're not going to grow. That's what separates the winners and losers."
After the deal was announced, James said, "Def Jam, thank you for believing." This deal is a joint venture and involves his Gold Gang Records. With Def Jam, James is walking in the footsteps of Kanye West, 2 Chainz and more.
