'Piece of Burger' Star, Courtney Barnes Busted for Warrant: Viral Sensation Turns Himself In
It looks like Courtney Barnes got a piece of handcuffs, instead of a "piece of burger," when he turned himself in after a warrant for his arrest was made public. MStars News previously reported that Barnes was a wanted man following his interview that went viral on WLBT after a police chase.
Barnes words including, "I was actually going to buy me a piece of burger, from Burger King," and "He twist around like a tornado, girl....we don't know if the police is going to make it or if he's going to tap out," had everyone around the nation laughing out of their chairs.
Now we have learned that Barnes decided to turn himself at the Ridgleland station and the Jackson police have confirmed it. Ridgeland Police's John Neal revealed that Barnes turned himself in on two contempt of court charges, including the $1,600 he owed in three unpaid traffic tickets and for allegedly stealing from a Swell-O-Phonic shoe store.
After Barnes couldn't settle his outstanding charges, the Ridgeland police called the Jackson police where he was wanted on a misdemeanor shoplifting charge.
MStars News also learned that Barnes apologized for his actions before turning himself in to police custody. After being released back to this mother, Barnes was then sent to the Jackson Police Department to take care of his shoplifting charge.
Barnes will be back in Ridgeland to go to his court hearing on June 23.
Swell-O-Phonic owner Ron Chane stated earlier: "It's all an act to get attention," Chane wrote on WLBT's Facebook page. "He has no regard for anyone but himself...You've got somebody hurt in a car wreck and this loser is trying to catch his 15 seconds - enjoy it buddy - you'll be locked up soon."
Since beginning the coverage on Barnes, we have learned that he previosly was on the hit show, So You Think You Can Dance.
