First Poster for New Anime Series Dragonball Super Seemingly Shows New Villains
It has been 18 years since a Dragon Ball anime series has been released, but that changes when the new show Dragon Ball Super arrives in just a few short weeks. The first poster for the series seemingly shows the new villains.
Check out the poster here to see what appears to be two more members of the race to which Beerus, the God of Destruction, and his attendant Whis belong.
We also recently got our first look at Gohan in the series, and you can check out the photo here to check out the son of Goku. It appears that the young half-Saiyan is back to having his nose in the books rather than on the battlefield.
It has been announced that Dragon Ball Super will premiere in Japan on July 5th. Be on the lookout for Hulu or another streaming service to possibly simulcast the show for American audiences.
Recently, the first look at the main character, Goku, was released, and you can check out the photo here.
The series will reportedly follow the events of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and the two most recent movies, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F. You may notice Dragon Ball GT is missing from that list. That's because those behind the series have decided to do what most fans have done: completely ignore GT and treat it as non-canon.
Details on the new series are sparse, but Anime News Network reports it will pick up "a few years after the defeat of Majin Buu, during a time when the Earth is peaceful." This would indicate that the series takes place after the conclusion of DBZ, but it's unclear if it occurs before or after the two aforementioned movies.
The new Dragon Ball Z movie hits American theaters this summer, and some new photos reveal the Super Saiyan God forms of both Goku and Vegeta as they take on the new golden Frieza.
Check out the photos here.
In addition, the third and final DLC pack for Dragonball: Xenoverse has been revealed, and it contains the aforementioned forms of Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza.
A video of the movie recently revealed that two of Frieza's last remaining henchmen use the Dragonballs to try to revive their master and wind up summoning a Frieza from another reality. The video shows this Frieza as purple and gold, and he seems to have a transformation that can even stand up to Super Saiyan 3 Goku.
