Randy Travis Arrested Update: Enters Not-Guilty Plea To Assault Charge, Next Trial Hearing March 11
Country Singer Randy Travis claims he did not hit anyone atleast not to his knowledge. Travis, who has been previously arrested for DUI, has pleaded not guilty to an alleged assault charge.
It is alleged that Travis, who has six Grammy Awards to his name and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame attacked another man in a parking lot of Texas church, Aug. 24, TMZ reported.
The brawl was after he got into an argument that was going on between his girlfriend and her estranged husband.
Larry Friedman, Travis' attorney said that Travis was only a rescuer after two men were harassing the woman and her daughter. Before police arrived on the scene, Travis was attacked and he was only defending himself, Dallas Morning News reported.
Travis who has hits like, "Forever and Ever," "No Hands," "Amen" was also arrested in February for public alcohol intoxication.
In Aug. 7, Travis was arrested for DUI and threatening police officers. He has been seen naked and in intoxicated state on certain occasions.
"Randy is no longer drinking any alcohol," Friedman told the Morning News. "He's committed to a new fitness regimen that includes a strict three-hour workout every day and a new high-protein diet."
Travis has said people should not believe everything that they read.
"And he wished everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and safe travels," Friedman added.
The next trial has been set for March 11, 2013.
