‘WTF with Marc Maron’ President Barack Obama Episode Best Moments
This past Monday, comedian Marc Maron, who stars on the IFC series Maron, had perhaps his most famous guest on WTF yet... President Barack Obama. During the episode – which was largely about the political landscape of the country with tiny bits and pieces of "Who is Barack Obama?" thrown in there – there were a number of moments that stood out to us—either funny, sad or even real.
With that in mind, let's take a look at some of the best moments and takeaways from Marc Maron's WTF episode with President Barack Obama:
President Obama on Being Nervous
While the comic was obviously stressing over the interview with President Obama – which, let's face it, is understandable – it looks like the opposite wasn't exactly true. When Maron confessed he was nervous all morning, the President responded that he didn't really feel the same way.
Though really, if the President is nervous to come on a podcast, our nation might be in trouble.
Listing What He's Done for the Country
From LGBT rights to healthcare, at around 38 minutes in, Obama went on a lengthy list of the things he and his cabinet have done for the country. And no matter how you slice it, it's a pretty extensive list.
Obama on Being Fearless
If there's one thing being the President of the United States does for you, it's the fact that it makes you absolutely fearless. Or, so says the President. Whether you're ordering the assassination of someone like Osama Bin Laden or on the receiving end of a verbal beat down from the likes of Bill O'Reilly or Rush Limbaugh, it appears that being President helps you attain a pretty thick skin.
Maron Describing His Neighborhood
In the beginning of the episode, Maron detailed what was going on outside before the President showed up. His little neighborhood of Highland Park was completely transformed by Secret Service, with snipers being placed on roofs, fans standing on his neighbor's lawn and government authorities actually listening in to his interview with the President.
President Obama Actually Went to Marc Maron's Garage
This in itself is pretty amazing. The fact that Maron actually had the President of the United States come to his garage to do an interview is simply crazy.
Well done, Maron.
