Kate Winslet Wedding: Actress Marries In NY, Secret Ceremony
Actress Kate Winslet married her partner Ned Rocknroll is a secret ceremony in New York attended only by her two children and "very few friends and family," a representative for the "Titanic" actress revealed this week.
The Oscar-winner had been engaged to Rocknroll, the nephew of Sir Richard Branson, since the summer and the wedding was held earlier this month, according to BBC.
This is Winslet's third marriage. Winslet has daughter Mia with her ex-husband director Jim Threapleton, who she was married to for three years until 2001, and son Joe with director Sam Mendes, who she divorced in 2010.
Winslet, 37, and Rocknroll have been publicly dating since fall 2011. This is Rocknroll's second marriage. He married multimillionaire Viscount Cowdray's daughter Eliza in 2009 but the couple separated in 2010.
Rocknroll works for the space flight company, Virgin Galactic. The couple has decided to keep details of the New York wedding private but People magazine reported that actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who is also Winslet's good friend, was in attendance. Reportedly, the couple's parents did not know about the wedding and DiCaprio was in fact the one to give Winslet away at the wedding.
Rocknroll's father Robert told The Sun, "'It's not something I know of - but nothing would surprise me with those two."
Winslet and DiCaprio started together in 1997's "Titantic" and in 2009's "Revolutionary Road," both times playing a couple. Winslet's ex-husband Mendes directed the later film.
Winslet first met Rocknroll while on vacation in the summer with her then boyfriend, model Louis Dowler, at Branson's Necker Island where Rocknroll was also vacationing, according to Daily Mail. Winslet and Rocknroll hit it off and the "Mildred Pierce" actress was in the news when she rescued Branson's mother Eve from a burning building during Hurricane Irene.
Rocknroll's ex-wife Eliza confirmed the reports at the time by saying the following to the website:
"I guess I was surprised he had met someone like Kate. That was a little strange. He hadn't known her before. But he explained he'd met her on Necker in August, during the trip when the house burned down."
