William Hurt Addresses Red Hulk Rumors in 'Captain America 3: Civil War'
Several weeks ago, MCU Exchange reported that William Hurt would reprise his role as General Ross from 2008's The Incredible Hulk and will actually transform into Red Hulk during Captain America: Civil War!
What's more, this rumor stated Mark Ruffalo's Hulk would have a role in the film in that the two Hulks would have a battle to rival that of the one between the big green monster and Iron Man's Hulkbuster armor in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, Hurt discussed these rumors among other points about his character in the movie.
"It's very, very different from [The Incredible Hulk], and the style is completely modernized," Hurt said. "So, I'm not playing the graphic novel version of Thaddeus Ross. I'm playing a better suit." When asked about the Red Hulk, Hurt grinned and said, "I don't know, I wouldn't mind feeling like I had that much power. But I created Thaddeus originally as an ego the same size as the monsters. With the same degree of messed up-ness. Yeah, I'd love to have a shot at it."
Marvel has released the official plot synopsis for the movie that some have dubbed Avengers 2.5. And that certainly sounds like an apt title based on the description:
"Set for release in the United States on May 6, 2016, Captain America: Civil War is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. The film returns Chris Evans as the iconic Super Hero character Steve Rogers/Captain America along with Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes/War Machine and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.
After his debut in Marvel’s Ant-Man on July 17, 2015, Paul Rudd will make his first appearance alongside the Avengers as Scott Lang/Ant-Man in Captain America: Civil War.
The film also includes outstanding additional cast, including Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, Daniel Brühl, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow/ Crossbones, William Hurt as General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross and Martin Freeman.
Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain."
