Rosie Perez Exits 'The View,' Leaves Whoopi Goldberg, Nicolle Wallace To Carry On
Another one bites the dust! It doesn't seem like ABC talk show The View can hold onto any of its co-hosts for very long. Rosie O'Donnell announced her exit back in February after just a few months back on the show, and her co-star Rosie Perez has just revealed that she is also throwing in the towel after only one season with the morning program. There has been a lot of turmoil and tension behind-the-scenes of the show with rumors and speculation about firing and replacing hosts making headline news over the last couple of months.
While it seems like Rosie Perez made the decision to exit the show on her own accord, Radar Online is reporting that producers gave the star the option to exit gracefully after filming for this season concluded.
Variety posted a memo that was written by Bill Wolff announcing Perez's departure from the cast.
Watch Rosie's goodbye in the clip below.
"Our friend Rosie Perez has decided to leave the show at the conclusion this season to pursue full time her love for acting," the statement read. "Stepping into the role of talk show host at the same time she has been starring on Broadway has been incredibly impressive. And beyond being an enormously talented performer, Rosie is a dedicated advocate who has brought passion and insight to the panel every day."
While the star's exit might come as a shock to some, others aren't surprised, as the program brought a slew of guest hosts to take over Perez's seat while she was fulfilling her Broadway duties.
Wolff also explained in the letter that Rosie would receive a "proper send off" in the coming weeks.
