Justin Bieber To Perform on ‘Saturday Night Live’ February 9
Many of teen pop sensation Justin Bieber's fans have looked up on him as a role model worthy of emulation. But after the photos of their favorite idol smoking pot surfaced, fans have been participating in a campaign - Cut4Bieber.
The hashtag started trending suggesting Beliebers to perform acts of self-harm protesting against Bieber smoking up a blunt.
"Lets start a cut yourself for bieber campaign. Tweet a bunch of pics of people cutting themselves and claim we did it because bieber was smoking weed. See if we can get some little girls to cut themselves," said the tread that was later deleted, New York Daily News reported.
This campaign caused an outrage from the internet community including singer Miley Cyrus to voice her opinion against this hashtag.
The campaign was reportedly started by an anonymous user 4Chan.org that turned out be a hoax.
The topic generated 26,000 hits in 12 hours, said trending tracker site Topsy. Many of the Tweeters made fun of the words and posted photos of cutting cake, paper and other things.
Bieber has not responded on this.
Fans Show Their Support For Bieber
Some of Bieber's fans have come out and show their support for the 18-year-old singer after Bieber Tweeted: "Everyday growing and learning. trying to be better. u get knocked down, u get up."
It has been said that the above Tweet was an apology from Bieber for his fans.
"Nobody will ever be perfect and everyone makes mistakes. I seriously think it was just a one time thing. I think Justin knows he did wrong so he is learning from it," posted Alexis, a Bieber fan, MTV reported.
"So the hell what? If he wants to smoke some weed let him smoke some weed, it is no worse than alcohol. I feel so bad for him, everyone is always picking on him for doing what he loves, tell them to suck it JB!"
