Paul Feig's Ensemble Sci-fi Comedy 'Ghostbusters' Set Photos Leaked!
"I ain't afraid of no set leaks!" Despite the negative feedback that the reboot of Ghostbusters is receiving, whether it be for the all-female cast, or the topic of remakes being overdone, the first photos from on set were leaked earlier this summer and to be honest, the new devices that these ladies are using look pretty cool! ComingSoon.net posted to Facebook a photo of Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy running and carrying a strange new trap for the ghosts. After the recent death of the original script's writer, Harold Ramis, the film has been both highly anticipated and scorned for flipping the story on its head. However, with the new writer, Katie Dippold (The Heat), and writer/director, Paul Feig (Bridesmaids), the production will be in good hands. They both have a knack for witty and hysterically comical situations, especially for a fantastic ensemble female cast.
In an exclusive interview with Feig, Variety says that he was quite surprised at all of the negative backlash the film was generating. The Spy director said, "The first wave when you make an announcement like that is overwhelmingly positive. Everyone's so happy and you're like, 'This is great.' Then comes the second wave and you're like, Oh my God. Some of the most vile, misogynistic s- I've ever seen in my life." He even referred to the posts on Twitter as "vicious." Feig even spoke about his disassociation with the reboot from Sony that involves an all male cast starring Channing Tatum.
Feig's film has been shooting throughout June with actors Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, and he's very excited to see what happens. He explained that with Ghostbusters and with The Spy starring Melissa McCarthy, he knew the studios wouldn't allow him to direct or write a Bond movie, so he decided to make one up himself and couldn't be happier with the performances he's getting from his group of actors.
Ghostbusters won't hit theaters until July 22nd 2016, but check out the trailer for Feig's The Spy, which is playing in theaters now!
