Lena Dunham, Jack Antonoff Call Off Wedding Following SCOTUS Gay Marriage Ruling?
Lena Dunham is one of the few celebrities who kept her promise not to get married until same-sex marriage had become legal nationwide, but now that the Supreme Court has extended the right for all gay couples to wed, is the Girls actress getting cold feet? The 29-year-old has been dating boyfriend and musician Jack Antonoff for the last three years, but with marriage finally becoming legal for lesbian and gay couples, are Jack and Lena about to head down the aisle and become husband and wife, or will they simply just continue their courtship?
Well, it seem like the pair aren't ready for marriage just yet.
According to Us Weekly, Dunham sent out a tweet on June 26, the day that the SCOTUS ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, saying that Jack better get down on one knee and pop the question, but the Fun. member didn't respond.
In an essay that the actress wrote for the New Yorker, Dunham reveals that her tweet to her boyfriend might have been a little bit premature. "As soon as Jack woke upon, I informed him that he 'better not make a fool out of me,' followed by a quick 'LOL' and then, 'But seriously. I'm going to look like a real idiot if we just sit here like losers and keep dating.' Then I tweeted, '@jackantonoff get on it, yo' followed by my immediate and all-consuming regret," the star explained.
"Jack didn't text back, which is entirely unlike him, and it wasn't until I got home and looked him in the eye that I realized just how little the concept of marriage had been on his mind," the star continued.
"I held Jack's hand and said, 'Let's not talk about marriage for a while, okay?' He looked grateful and relieved. I felt unburdened but sad."
We are sure that when the time is right for both of them that they will plan the most magical wedding.
