Former WWE Superstar CM Punk Sets Possible UFC Fight Debut Date
One of the biggest surprises in the sports and sports entertainment world was CM Punk's signing with the UFC after suddenly quitting WWE. Since that time, Punk has been training nonstop, day in and day out. Everyone has been wondering for the longest time when he'll finally make his debut in the octagon and now we may have an answer -- Punk's anticipated debut may actually be earlier than expected, which is exciting news whether you're for Punk joining or not.
Punk made the revelation this week.
"I say this all the time: I'd love to fight tomorrow. But I want to be as prepared as I possibly can be and I will be. I'm still shooting for December. It might be January, I'm not sure. But I'll be ready when I fight."
Punk also made another revelation about his UFC status. According to the former WWE Champion, the hardest part of his training has been wrestling:
"Wrestling is probably my hardest day just because that's the grind. You're constantly in somebody's face. You're not trying to give up any ground. It's no secret I didn't wrestle in high school or anything like that. Everybody I train with did, so they have a lifetime of experience. But I love that."
Punk says that when it's time to actually fight, he'll either be a middleweight at 185 pounds or a welterweight at 170 pounds. Of the two weight classes, welterweight is his goal. Punk says fighting 185-pound fighters is a "bad idea."
"Those guys are a lot bigger than me," Punk admitted. "I think 170 are doable."
How do you think the former WWE Champion will fare when he finally makes it to the UFC Octagon?
