USA's 'Colony' Trailer: Josh Holloway, Sarah Wayne Callies, Carlton Cuse's 2015 SDCC Debut!
Created by executive producers Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Ryan Condal (Hercules), before its premiere on USA Network, The Colony made its debut at the 2015 San Diego Comic Con. Check out Josh Holloway (Lost) and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead) in the SDCC trailer!
Based on the plot synopsis, Colony is set in the near future of Los Angeles, The city of angels now exists in a state of occupation by a force of outside intruders. There are some people who choose to collaborate with the authorities and benefit from the new order. Then, there are also others who rebel and suffer the consequences.
Holloway plays the role of an FBI agent determined to reunite his family after an alien invasion separates him and his wife (Callies) from their son. In addition to a trailer, which has been released online, convention-goers were able to attend the panel and watched 11 minutes of the show's first episode.
According to Variety, the sci-fi drama was heavily promoted at Comic-Con. Attendees got a chance to enjoy complimentary rides in a fleet of branded "Colony" military vehicles and SUV. Due to a partnership between USA and Uber, there were also "Colony"-branded pedicabs and bikes from San Diego's DecoBike bikeshare program. Actors dressed in the show's military fatigue costumes.
Deadline reports, USA Network picked up Colony for a 10-episode order. The Colony pickup gave Cuse four series on the air, including Bates Motel, which has been renewed for two more season, and The Returned on A&E, which has been cancelled, and The Strain at FX, which just made its season season premiere. Additionally, Cuse has the pilot, Point Of Honor, playing on Amazon for series pickup consideration.
USA president Chris McCumber states, "Carlton and Ryan have created an intriguing ride that uniquely provides a humanistic take. Josh and Sarah have incredible on-screen chemistry and brilliantly play a couple making tough choices to protect their family in an uncertain world."
The same site states, Carl Weathers, Kathy Baker (Picket Fences), Kathleen Rose Perkins (Episodes), and Paul Guilfoyle (CSI).
The Colony is set to premiere in the fall.
