'Dead Island 2' Gameplay, Release Date News: Yager Leaves Sequel
Gamers have been waiting on a solid update on the highly anticipated Dead Island 2 video game title, but this week we got some bad news rather than gameplay trailer or something like that. According to the game's publisher, Deep Silver, the development studio Yager will no longer be involved in game. This is shocking news, considering Yager made the first chapter, but maybe the sequel needs a new team? Will this affect the game's already shaky release date window? Deep Silver announced this news earlier in the week, releasing a statement to video game news websites such as IGN that spelled out Yager's departure and not much else.
"We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage," the company said.
Shortly after this announcement, Yager's managing director Timo Ullman opened up to GamesIndustry about this news.
"Our team is made of the best creative minds and tech specialists, who all share a common identity," he explained. "The team worked with enthusiasm to take Dead Island 2 to a new level of quality. However, Yager and Deep Silver's respective visions of the project fell out of alignment, which led to the decision that has been made."
IGN states that we could be getting more information at GamesCom 2015 regarding this game.
So we might have even more time to wait for new gameplay footage and an actual release date, but we can at least watch the first gameplay teaser for Dead Island 2 right here:
