American boy band group, Backstreet Boys' member A. J. McLean has revealed that "The Gangstar Squad" actor, Ryan Gosling "should have" been a member of  Backstreet Boys, TMZ reported. He said that he even offered him a place in the band, but the actor was not convinced.

In an interview to Celebuzz, Gosling revealed that "When I was doing the Mickey Mouse Club, we were living in the same place as that guy A.J. from the Backstreet Boys. They were just forming that band, so he was saying how big they were going to be - and he had a poster of them in his house."

"We were like, it's never going to happen," he remembers. "Didn't they already do that with New Kids? You're a little late. Cut to... I was wrong."

Gosling knows A.J. from their days before the Backstreet Boys band went international and went on to become highly successful.

He even jokingly said, he tried to reach out to them but they never responded. "They're not returning my calls. I try not to think about it."

But McLean said that it must be due to some misunderstanding that they could not respond and to set the things straight, they will be happy if Gosling joins their band group that has sold 130 million records.

McLean also added that Gosling was not only a wonderful actor but could sing his "a... off ."

Backstreet boys came to prominence in 1996 when they released their first album. All the five band members have united again and will be rolling out an album.
