'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers: Will Grant Gustin/Barry Allen Lose Candice Patton/Iris To Patty?
With the first season cliffhanger leaving audiences hanging, the CW network already has casting plans for Season 2 of The Flash. Is Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) in danger of losing the future Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) to another woman, a love interest named "Patty?"
In our first season recap, Barry Allen as he awake from his coma, after being struck by lightning. Given super-speed powers, Barry belonged to small group of friends, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), who know his secret identity. They worked together against super villains, including Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and teaming with the Arrow (Stephen Amell). But they never realized their true enemy was lurking within them, the Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh).
According to Deadline, Patty Spivot will be played by Shantel VanSanten (Gang Related). Patty is a cop and a science enthusiast, which is why Barry has his eyes on her. Unfortunately, Patty is unaware that Barry Allen is falling for her. Because of her obsession with metahumans, she is excited to be partnering up with Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) this season.
Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg reveals that Patty Spivot's addition will help "complicate Barry Allen's love life in Season 2." In the New 52 Universe, Patty is in the relationship with Barry, not Iris. No word yet if she will become her superhero-alter ego, Hot Pursuit aka Ms. Flash.
We also mentioned, Teddy Sears (Masters of Sex) actor will play an incarnation of Jay Garrick, the Silver Age Flash. In the DC Comics Universe, Garrick is the first character to hold the mantle of The Flash during his debut in the 1940s. In the New 52, Jay is now a semi-retired crime-fighter, with his hair gone totally white.
Viewers caught a glimpse of Jay's iconic winged helmet in the first season finale. In his arrival, Jay is a mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of an impending danger that he alone cannot stop.
