Honey Boo Boo's 'Uncle Poodle,' Is HIV Positive: Lee Thompson, Admits To Contracting Disease From Ex-Boyfriend Last Year

Honey Boo Boo's Uncle Poodle came out about his sexuality and now is opening up on a serious health issue to the world. Lee Thomson has revealed that he was diagnosed with HIV last year.

 Thomson who is the younger brother of Alana's father, Sugar Bear revealed the news in a new interview with Atlanta's gay magazine Fenuxe, "I was adamant about getting my HIV status checked on a regular basis."  The reality star added, "On March 16, 2012, I tested negative," he said. "Then, in May of 2012 my test results came back positive. I knew it had been my boyfriend who infected me. I later learned he had been HIV positive and was not taking medication and had not bothered to tell me about it. I was advised that I should press charges and, hesitantly, I did. It was the right thing to do."

After infecting Thompson, his ex-boyfriend is now serving five years in prison, "I would have been cool with his HIV status if he had been honest," he said. "I don't have an issue with the disease. I would have known how to protect myself."

As for Thompson's advice for people not practicing safe sex and putting themselves at risk of contracting diseases like HIV, he says, "They are damn fools! They are playing Russian roulette; they are playing with their lives and that of their sexual partners."
