'True Detective' Season 2 Theories on Bird Head Mask Shooter: Who Shot Ray, Killed Caspere?
As fans of the hit HBO series True Detective know from the first season, there are a ton of theories that make the rounds on the Internet throughout the episodes airing. Now that we're deeper into season two, more theories are starting to pop up, specifically about the murderer of Ben Caspere and/or the one who shot Ray Velcoro while wearing that bird head mask. One theory that popped up recently makes a great case for who this "birdman" could be, and why he's doing what he's doing in the 2015 season. You probably already knew this, but there is a great True Detective page over on Reddit, which is where UPROXX spotted and shared this theory. It's full of other theories as well, but this one is gaining a lot of traction this week.
Basically, this theory is claiming that Buriss is the guy that shot Ray. The theory isn't assuming that only one person wears this freaky bird mask, so this theory doesn't exactly clear up who killed Caspere. The evidence for Buriss shooting Velcoro definitely makes sense, too.
According to this explanation, Ray's dream sequence in which he's speaking with his father in the opening to the third episode was most likely Buriss speaking to his shooting victim. That's all we'll share with you right now, but you can check out this full theory right here!
