Evan Ross Talks Marriage to Ashlee Simpson Before Birth of Daughter: "I Found Love"
Evan Ross and his wife, Ashlee Simpson, are expecting their first child (a baby girl), any day now. Before their little bundle of joy comes, the son of Diana Ross stopped by The Boris and Nicole Show to dish details on his marriage to the sister of Jessica Simpson and how he "found love" with her.
In the clip below, around the 10 minute mark, the 26-year-old soon to be dad talked to the married host, Nicole Ari Parker, and her husband, Boris Kodjoe, and shared that his wife and their marriage is amazing.
"I can't wait. We got the nursery ready, my wife is the best." As for baby names, Evan says that they do, in fact, have a baby name already picked out but he can't reveal it yet.
"The only person I wanted to tell the name to was my mom, but she wouldn't let me tell her so. She was like, 'that's for you to have.'"
As a young Hollywood couple, Evan states that they set a good example and survive marriage by "having each other."
"We got each other. We both grew up in this...she's been working too. We look out for each other and she's an incredible mother already so it's really, I got the easy job now because she just knows how to do it."
Evan says that the reason he fell in love with Ashlee was because she's "motherly, she takes care of people."
How sweet.
Besides his relationship with Ashlee, Evan talked about his mother, the legendary Diana Ross.
"You start to realize that it's something special about your mother," he explained. "I think when you see her presence itself, you know, even more the fact that I think that people knew who she was, I could feel her when she walked into a room it would feel like something."
He added, "No matter what she's doing there's a presence about her."
"I remember her walking in my school rooms, and things like that, even if she was trying to hide and peek in on us, everybody would be like 'oh wow.'"
Evan also described his mother's voice when she'd get mad at him for something. "She could be on the other side of the house, and if she's mad and I hear my name get called out, I'm like, 'yo."'
"In her voice you can hear it. If she's serious, she's serious."
He shared how he and Boris met Nicole cracked a joke asking how old he was when they met. "I think I was about 15, about to be 16," Ross said to Boris. "I was 17," he correceted as Ross confirmed that they are around the same age. Boris, was of course, joking because he's in his 40s, not his mid-20s.
Changing subjects, Evan revealed that he was "really close with Michael [Jackson]." He explained that Jackson "loved his mother like a mother. He was very close with all of us. He'd call me "apple head."
On his career, Evan explained why he chose acting over music first.
"I started doing movies before I did music because I hadn't found that story that I wanted to tell," he explained.
"I found love. I think there's something so positive about that especially with young men. I feel like we don't talk about that enough. We promote the idea of more women, more you know."
