Republican Debate Highlights: 5 Things to Look Forward to from 2016 GOP Candidates
The first Republican debate for the 2016 Presidential Election airs tonight. And while we've been inundated with hilarious videos and stories about a number of the candidates – mainly surrounding or having to do with GOP leader Donald Trump – tonight marks the very first debate. On this eve, barflies and living room alcoholics will be watching with bated breath, ready to win whatever drinking game they've come up with dedicated to the train wreck important national event.
At 9 p.m. ET on Fox News (online and on television), the top ten will go head-to-head-to-head-to-head-to-head-to-head-to-head-to-head-to-head-to-head, firing back and forth over what they feel is best for our country. Of course, the ones who didn't make the top ten will also be doing so... at 5 p.m. ET. But let's be real, the main event starts at 9.
No, it's not a wrestling match – it's just U.S. politics.
Naturally, there are some important things to be said in tonight's debate, but those aren't really what we're looking forward to. Here's what we can't wait for, or what we hope to see, during the event:
HOW MANY TIMES DONALD TRUMP INTERRUPTS SOMEONE
Donald Trump will have a small amount of time to answer questions. But what the debate organizers don't know is that no one – AND WE MEAN NO ONE – interrupts The Donald. Therefore, whether it be a moderator or fellow candidate, we feel bad for whoever will be feeling the wrath of Donald Trump should they interrupt him.
CHRIS CHRISTIE'S BULLYING
Chris Christie, if you don't know, can be a little bit of a bully. This is evident with him telling a heckler to "sit down and shut up" during Hurricane Sandy. Of course, maybe that guy deserved it. Though, that whole BridgeGate thing... yeah.
Anyway, Christie is a big personality so it'll be rather exciting to see him next to Trump. As for the other guys, well, we'll see how he deals with them as well.
HOW DONALD TRUMP DEBATES
Not to make the whole list about Donald Trump, but come on, he's the most entertaining. The billionaire businessman admitted to Meet the Press's Chuck Todd that he's not a debater. Usually he just surrounds himself with yes-men. Because of this, it'll be great to catch a glimpse of the former Celebrity Apprentice star in action with nine people who have so far disagreed with his actions. Particularly...
LINDSEY GRAHAM'S CELL PHONE NUMBER REFERENCES
It's too bad that Lindsey Graham isn't one of the top ten candidates because we'd love to see he and Trump go at it, specifically after Trump gave out the former's phone number during a press conference. But fear not, we're sure it'll be brought up.
CHRIS CHRISTIE'S JERSEY CHARM
Jersey charm = bullying. (This writer is from Jersey, so calm down, folks). We have to ask: Can Christie "charm" voters tonight? We'll see.
