Susan Richardson [PHOTOS] 'Eight is Enough' Actress Broke, Toothless, Sick, Living in 'Rotting' Trailer: Sad Downfall of 1970s Starlet
Many fans remember Susan Richardson as Susan Bradford, one of eight children on the popular 1977-1981 comedy-drama sitcom "Eight is Enough." Nowadays, the former actress is allegedly living in a run-down trailer in Pennsylvania - broke, toothless, and horribly sick. The "American Graffiti" starlet recently sat down with the National Enquirer to talk about her devastating fall from fame... the dilapidated 60-year-old woman can barely afford to heat her rotting home.
"I don't want to complain too much, but I've had my share of problems," Richardson admits to the Enquirer. A recent issue of the popular gossip tabloid also reveals shocking photos of the weak-looking actress and her decrepit trailer park home. According to Richardson, ongoing medical problems now control her life - "I had a series of mini-strokes. Then I discovered I had a rare disorder that made my esophagus go spastic," Richardson explains. As a result she couldn't eat... most of her teeth eroded down to nothing and she ultimately lost 60 pounds.
Meanwhile, her home is a total wreck - "There's always something wrong with it. It's frigid inside most days. The water hasn't been working, so I can't make coffee, and the floor is rotting around me," Richardson tearfully reveals. "I desperately need a new trailer, but I can't afford it. It's really embarrassing to say, but I've never been in such dire straits."
Richardson hopes that some more royalties from "Eight is Enough" are headed her way soon to help get her life back on track - "We've just gone into DVD sales for 'Eight Is Enough,' so I'm hoping to get a little money from that."
Following the fifth and final season of "Eight is Enough" in 1981, Richardon's acting career came to a hault. She last starred in the 1998 TV movie special, "An Eight is Enough Wedding."
An upcoming issue of the National Enquirer offers the full story on Richardson's sad downfall, along with a "special report" on "Hollywood moms out of control."
Richardson isn't the only 1970s starlet who's recently hit hard times... "Happy Days" sweetheart Erin Moran is currently a "homeless drunk" and wandering the streets with her husband after both were kicked out of their trailer park home. Read more on that story here.
