Kathie Lee Gifford Birthday Wishes, Tributes For Frank From Kris Jenner

Kathie Lee Gifford was showered with love and affection from close friends Kris Jenner and Hoda Kotb. The Today Show host turned 62 on Sunday, but also recently lost her husband Frank Gifford on August 9th. Gifford and Frank are the godparents to Caitlyn and Kris Jenner's two children Kendall, 19, and Kylie, 18. Kris posted a photo on Instagram with a caption that says, "Happy Birthday to my beautiful friend Kathie Lee," Kris, 59, wrote on Instagram Sunday, alongside a selfie of the two of them. "I wish you peace and understanding. I know it's Frank's birthday today too. I wish I was there with you today. Big hug my angel," E! News reports. Sadly, Frank would have turned 85 on Sunday as well.

Kathie returned to hosting on The Today Show just this Monday and she talked very lovingly about her late husband. "She noted that he died instantly while watching TV, all dressed for church in what he knew was her favorite outfit," The Hollywood Reporter via Yahoo! News says. She talked a lot about his comfort and how she was incredibly grateful that he got to go the way he had always wanted to go. She also happened to mention that through this loss she and her children have really felt so loved and so comforted.

Kathie went on to talk about Frank's humble beginnings and how his family was always struggling, but that they always had their faith. "Gifford was a former New York Giants running back who went on to become a beloved sportscaster - but Kathie Lee said people should understand that he had humble roots," People says. She talks about how he knew what it was like to be hungry and how the whole family traveled while his father would try to find work. "'He would want you all to know that when he was a little boy they had nothing, but they had their faith,' said Kathie Lee of Gifford's upbringing. 'Every time they moved to a new town, his mother and father would take him and his siblings, they would go to church every week as a family, and that kept them as a family through the darkest, darkest times,'" People says. We've truly lost such a lovely man and inspirational figure. All the best to Kathie and her family during this time of loss.
