'Gotham' Season 2 Spoilers: Will Ben McKenzie, Michael Chiklis Stop Firefly & James Frain?
Fox teases the "rise of the villains" in the Batman prequel series, Gotham. Before Season 2 of Gotham gets underway,, will Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) be able to stop Theo Galavan (James Frain) and Bridget Pike (Michelle Veintimilla) aka Firefly?
In our finale recap, after a botched hit, Gordon (McKenzie) came to the rescue of Carmine Falcone just when Penguin was about to slit his throat. Trouble mounted for the detective as Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) returned with a vengeance and shot Sal Maroni (David Zayas) in the head. Elsewhere, Barbara (Erin Richards) confessed to Leslie (Morena Baccarin) that she murdered her parents and almost tried to kill her.
In the closing minutes, Falcone gave up his life of crime after Jim helped him reach a safe house. The Penguin (Taylor) took his revenge on Fish, grabbed her, and threw her off the roof; officially making him the number one mob boss. Bruce (Mazouz) discovered his father was actually hiding the Batcave.
According to TV Line, the Those Who Kill actress has landed the role of the Bridget Pike. Traditionally a male character in the DC Universe, Bridget will become known as Firefly. As we previously mentioned, Bridget's brother, Joe Pike, will be played by The Wire alum, Leo Fitzpatrick.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, McKenzie promises, "The audience really wants to understand who these people are and live with them, sit with them and enjoy them. Whether they're evil or good, they are entertaining. So that's what we're doing in season 2. [It's] really kick ass. I think it's exactly what the fans want to see."

Executive Producer Danny Cannon tells The Wrap, "Theo Galavan arrives in Gotham as a prodigal son returning. He comes from a very wealthy family with ancient roots in the building and foundation of Gotham. It takes a while for us to understand why he came back to Gotham and what his plan is, but it's an insidious one, obviously. He's a little bit like the Great Gatsby and Dracula coming to town with money and influence and charm and trying to bend to Gotham to serve him."
Theo Galavan is the "origins of a very famous DC villain," but who could he be?
Gotham returns for Season 2 on Fox on September 21 at 8pm.
