Wade Barrett Written off WWE Television: Changes Twitter Name
When Wade Barrett first showed the world his Bad News Barrett gimmick he went over with the crowd quick. His haughty verbal attacks on legends and anytime somebody wanted to have fun were ruined by Barrett getting on a 20-foot high podium and delivering the days bad news. Sadly a long injury leave slowed Barrett's momentum and now all signs are pointing to the former Intercontinental Champion being written off television. Apparently he has changed his name on Twitter to his real name Stu Bennett, and on top of that, he tweeted out he was "going home."
The reason for Barrett's departure might not be the worst one though. This summer he mentioned doing a WWE Films movie in September and the way these movies are usually shot, the filming tends to take six weeks. That is how long Dean Ambrose was out last summer while he shot his film. If this is the case with Barrett, he'll be missing a few WWE live events, Raws and Smackdowns for the foreseeable future.
The time off might be the best thing for Barrett's character. This can be a time to bring back the freshness to the bad news gimmick. Maybe we will even see a return to the podium.
The last time Barrett was on television was this Sunday at Summerslam when he and Stardust went up against Stephen Ammell from Arrow and Neville. Barrett went down in a losing effort after Neville hit his high-flying finishing move the Red Arrow. Out of respect to his partner Stardust laid Barrett out in the center of the ring on Raw the next night. This is presumably the last time we'll be seeing him for a while.
