Tim Tebow, Trade Rumors: New York Jets Aiming for Trade Deal to Get Rid of Quarterback
Tim Tebow trade rumors have fans of the 25-year-old quarterback divided after the New York Jets announced their intent to trade. Considering his performance as of late, specifically his passing accuracy, his relatively fresh career has nose-dived. In 2010, it seemed like Tebow was destined for success in the NFL considering his impressive college career, being awarded the Heisman trophy, and a promising first season as a Denver Bronco. At the University of Florida, Tim Tebow led the Gators to two national titles as quarterback. He left the NCAA with numerous accomplishments including the record for consecutive games in which he threw at lease one touchdown and scored a rushing touchdown. Tebow was signed to the Denver Broncos as an important asset according to head couch Josh McDaniels. Overall, Tebow's rookie year was seen sparingly as the season progressed before starting the last three games of the season. He threw for a total of 654 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed for 227 yards and six touchdowns. Tim Tebow became the first quarterback in NFL history to rush for a touchdown in each of his first three career starts.
Criticism started in Tim's second season with the Broncos, culminating with a disappointing end to the season. He was described as tentative and wary, which lead to a struggling franchise. Things turned up wit somewhat of a blessing. Tebow completed 10 of 21 passes during a first round playoff game and set the franchise record for quarterback rating in a playoff game. He also broke the NFL record for yards per completion in a playoff game with 31.6 yards. Tim was supposed to start the 2012 season as the starting quarterback of the Broncos, but was traded to the New York Jets upon Denver signing free agent Peyton Manning.
As a New York Jet, Tebow did not see much game time. He was restricted to special plays and wildcat formations in favor of starting quarterback, Mark Sanchez, maintaining his role. Though with Sanchez and the Jets struggling, fans wanted to see more of Tebow. Suffering two broken ribs in his first season with the Jets, Tim played with the injury unbeknownst to everyone outside of the team. Now with an unreliable passing record, the Jets are looking to trade Tebow in order to get attractive draft picks. Nothing is in stone since these are just rumours, but the odds are pointing in the direction of a trade. One option Tim Tebow can consider is playing in another position. The Jets cannot make a trade until March 12 at the earliest, so we will have to see how this plays out.
