Jodi Arias Trial, Admits to Brutal Murder of Ex-Boyfriend Travis Alexander: Courtroom, Crime Scene, Personal PHOTOS
On Tuesday, February 5, 2013, Jodi Arias (32) admitted in a Phoenix court to murdering her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander (30) in a brutal 2008 stabbing and shooting as a means of "self-defense." Arias' murder trial (which kicked off on January 2, 2013) shocked the entire nation, many comparing the "beauty killers" case to that of the highly-controversial Casey Anthony trial in the summer of 2011. Arias could receive a death penalty sentence if charged in the violent murder of Alexander.
Arias has been ousted as a pathological liar, having changed her story throughout the trial proceedings. She initially claimed that she wasn't even at the crime scene that day in June 2008, when Alexander was found brutally murdered in his Arizona home. On Tuesday, Arias finally admitted to the crime, insisting that Alexander was a possessive lover and that her former bouts with child abuse made her mentally unstable. After killing Alexander, Arias admitted that she had contemplated committing suicide.
