The birthplace for many notable comedians and improvisers, Second City Improv Theater, located in Chicago, suffered a loss today when a fire raged through their offices in Old Town.
Reports from The Chicago Tribune note that the offices were undoubtedly "destroyed" by the flames, and fire officials' state that the cause was due to a grease fire at the Adobo Grill. Which is on the first floor.
Luckily the flames did not spread to the theater.
Following the fire, Second City EVP Kelly Leonard stated on Facebook, "Almost 30 years of my stuff at Second City is burned and gone. But it's just stuff. The people are what's important."
It's being reported that two firemen and one civilian were injured in the fire.
