Penelope Soto Gives Judge the Middle Finger [VIDEO]: Teen Sentenced to 30 Days in Jail, Flips Off Judge During Bond Hearing, Compares Jewelry Collection to Rick Ross'

Penelope Soto was sentenced to 30 days in prison after she flipped off the judge presiding over her bond hearing. During her hearing in a Miami-Dade courtroom, the orange jumper clad Soto was giggling and playing with her hair while being questioned. Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat tried to explain the severity of the situation to the 18-year-old, but to no avail. Soto was brought in and charged for possession of Xanax.

When asked about her assets such as jewelry and vehicles, Penelope Soto began to laugh in response. Judge Rodriguez-Chomat then told the teenager to take this more seriously and that she was "not in a club." Given another chance to answer the question again. Saying she was taking the situation seriously, but still laughing and stroking her hair, Soto stated her jewelry collection was worth a lot of money. The judge then asked for a rough estimate of the worth to which Soto responded:

"Like Rick Ross. It's worth money."

Juge Rodrigues-Chomat did not understand the reference and asked if the defendant was on drugs. She denied being under the influence of any kind of drug. Her bond was set at $5,000 and the judge dismissed her. Unfortunately for Soto, her response of "Adios," did not sit well with the judge and he brought her back to add an additional $5,000 to her fine, making it an even $10,000. Clearly aggravated by the additional fine, Soto (still playing with her hair) walked away from the judge, flipping him off as she went and saying, "F--- you." Of course she was called back again considering but no more fines were added to the already increased amount. Upon confirming with Soto that she did in fact say what she said, Judge Rodriguez-Chomat found her in direct criminal contempt and sentenced her to 30 days in jail.

The video (see below) stops there but I can imagine that the 18-year-old Soto most likely continued to play with her hair as she walked to her cell. This is a crazy incident. Some Youtube commenters are accusing the judge of abusing his authority, but it is clear that he needed to treat this case in the way that he did. Sure he had a little fun at her expense when bringing her back for the first additional fine, but that was meant to teach her the lesson. Clearly not getting the message, Soto had to be taught a bigger lesson.
