Delanie Walker Aunt And Uncle Killed: Drunk Driver, Nechole Thomas Slams Mercedes Into Victims After 49ers Super Bowl Game
San Francisco 49ers tight end Delanie Walker faced tragedy shortly after playing in the Super Bowl. After facing a major blow after losing to the Baltimore Ravens he received another blow when news came back that his Aunt and Uncle were killed by a drunk driver.
Alice and Bryan Young came to New Orleans to support their nephew in the big game and after his loss the couple were traveling in their car when they pulled over and parked their Nissan Altima on the right of Interstate 10 almost 15 miles outside of the city. Drunk driver, Nechole Thomas, 26, swerved off the highway and struck them around 5:30 a.m. on Monday.
Both cars were burning and Thomas was able to get out of her 2002 Mercedes C230, but the Youngs were pronounced dead at the scene. Walker expressed his sadness on twitter Wednesday, "Alice and Bryan Young my aunt and uncle was killed on Monday at 5 am after the super bowl by a drunk." Walker added, "Im going to miss y'all but i know they are in a better place."
49ers CEO Jed York tweeted to Walker is, "We are praying for you and and your family," York said. According to police, Thomas only had minor injuries and is facing two counts of vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated and reckless operation of a vehicle. Thomas' toxicology tests have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab and are pending for further results.
