WWE 'Monday Night Raw' Preview 9/7/15: Night of Champions Matches Set Up

The Sept. 7, 2015 episode of WWE's Monday Night Raw will emanate live from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, and the Labor Day edition will continue to set up more matches at the Night of Champions pay-per-view in two weeks. We've got our full preview below, so let's dive in and talk about what we think will happen tonight.

Last week, Sting explained that he has targeted Seth Rollins for two reasons. First, he wants to capture the one title that has eluded him during his storied career: the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Second, he wants to prove that Rollins is a slimy little weasel who has barely escaped with the title for months thanks to outside interference and sheer dumb luck. So when a villain runs unchecked for that long, only one man who has made it his life's work to dispense justice can stop him.

But Rollins' problems didn't end there. At the conclusion of the night, the dual champion emerged to confront Sting and get back his statue. But instead of Sting, Rollins came face to face with John Cena, who invoked his rematch clause for the United States Championship at Night of Champions. Stephanie McMahon had no choice but to make the match because under WWE and The Authority's own rules, every title in the company must be defended at the pay-per-view, so Rollins will pull double duty in two weeks.

It's unclear if Sting will be on the show tonight or if he will remain off of Raw until the pay-per-view. If he does show up, then he should do what made him famous in the first place: remain silent and gain a psychological advantage over his opponent. Rollins can come out and cut one of his lengthy promos in which he talks about how he will defeat two legends at Night of Champions and cement his legacy as the greatest champion of all time. The lights go out, and Sting appears with his statue somewhere in the rafters. Rinse and repeat until the statue is in the ring with Rollins or on the stage. When the champ unveils it, it's covered in Sting's face paint.

Cena, meanwhile, can remind us all how awful Rollins' title reign has been and how he's been even more insufferable since he lucked into a victory at SummerSlam and took Cena's United States Championship. The 15-time world champion is a master on the microphone when he's motivated, so let's hear him talk tonight about how Night of Champions is the night that two of the greatest heroes in the history of the business finally put an end to Seth Rollins.

Plus, we can see if Cena's nose is any worse for wear after a scary incident with Kevin Owens during a house show on Friday night.

Charlotte is the No. 1 Contender to the Divas Championship, which Nikki Bella still holds. She and the rest of Team Bella are counting down the days until she surpasses AJ Lee's reign as longest-running champion in history, a mark she will surpass prior to Night of Champions. It's likely Charlotte gets her title shot then, but could she try to get that match early in order to stop Nikki before she breaks the record? And what about the rest of the women in the division? Will Team PCB start to fall apart at the seams? Will Sasha Banks and Team BAD get involved in this title feud in some way?
