Bindi Irwin Pens Touching Tribute To Late Father Steve For Australia's Father's Day
Bindi Irwin posted a touching tibute to remember her late father, Crocodile Hunter host Steve Irwin, in honor of Australia's Father's Day. The daughter of the wildlife conversation specialist took to her Instagram to make the tribute to her dad, who died in 2006 after being attacked by a stingray while filming the Ocean’s Deadliest documentary.
Irwin penned some emotional words in her tribute to her late dad, encouraging all readers to spend Father’s Day at the Queensland Australia Zoo, where her dad used to be a manager. "No matter where I am in the world, this day means such a lot to me. My heart forever lives @AustraliaZoo - just like Dad's always did,” Irwin wrote in her emotional post. She also incorporated an old photo of her risk-taking father, who was going head-to-head with a crocodile.
Fans of the Irwin family, especially of daughter Bindi, will be able to catch her on the upcoming 21st season of Dancing With The Stars, as she has signed on to be one of the celebrity contestants at the young age of 17. "Dad was that one person who, no matter what he did in life he just took it by storm, and he was so passionate and just really lived in the moment," she said. "Whatever the opposite of a procrastinator is, that was him ... and I think I kind of inherited a little bit of that. I'm hoping to make dad proud,” she said of the upcoming experience on the show.
She was just 8 years old when her father passed away from the incident. Irwin also left behind his son, who is now 11 years old, as well as his wife Terri. The family has worked hard to carry on Steve Irwin’s legacy since his passing, as well as all of his conservation efforts at the Australia Zoo.
