Guns N’ Roses Frontman Axl Rose Loses His $20 M Case Against Video Game Maker Activision

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose loses a key battle against video game maker, Activision Blizzard Inc. He had been fighting the case against the video game company since 2010. The case was dismissed by the Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charles Palmer.

Rose had filed a lawsuit against Activision in 2010 claiming that the company was involved in fraud and breach of contract. He claimed that Rose had only okayed the use of Guns N's Roses's hit song, "Welcome to the Jungle" in the video game, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. But he did not want the former guitarist of Guns N' Roses, Slash in the game. But when the game released it had Slash on the game cover and it also featured Slash as a playable avatar in the game. The game also features some tracks from Slash's band Velvet Revolver.

Though the judge had tossed out his fraud claim August 2012 because Rose filed his complaint late (waiting three years), the court agreed to look at the breach of contract accusation.  After hearing more than two hours of arguments between both sides, the judge tossed out his case.

Rose had claimed $20 million for damages accusing the video game of making $1 billion in sales.

In his deposition, Rose explained the reason for his filing the case late.  He claimed that the video company "offered him 'a separate video game and other business proposals worth millions of dollars to resolve and settle "the dispute."
