DeSean Jackson on Redskins' 2015 NFL Season, Playoff Chances: 'Home Team' Star Has No Hope
While most NFL players and fans are hopeful that their team will get far this season, DeSean Jackson thinks otherwise. In an interview with GQ Magazine, the Home Team reality TV show star shied away from making bold predictions for the Redskins this season, including playoff chances.
With the Redskins' quarterback situation a mess, DeSean Jackson eliminated all potential hope for the Redskins to make it to this season's playoffs.
In an interview with GQ Magazine, Jackson responded to the question, "Do you feel like you guys will contend this year?" with not only a long pause, but with uncertainty as to how to respond to the question without putting his team down too much: "Uh...how 'bout I say, uh...Let me see what I can answer to that question."
A+ for effort, though! Right? It wouldn't hurt for Jackson to at least pretend that the Redskins have some potential to make it to the playoffs, but to each his own.
Although he couldn't seem to muster up the strength of establishing some sort of false hope for the interviewer or even fans of the Redskins making the NFL Playoffs this season, at least he remained honest, kind of.
According to the Washington Post, it seems like honesty is pretty important for the scorned former Eagle. Jackson also spoke with GQ about his new reality TV show for BET, which he spent this spring shooting. He claimed that he wanted to strike back at Philadelphia, after they released him in 2014, for portraying him negatively. "The Eagles portrayed me to be this crazy young thug guy," Jackson says. "But as far as me being a respectful guy and doing what's right instead of wrong- I've always felt I've been on that right path."
Although that path doesn't seem to be heading to the playoffs this NFL season, at least the Redskins are lucky enough to have Jackson, a supernatural receiver "whose small frame belies the havoc he causes every week."
