'The Flash' Season 2 Spoilers: Candice Patton, Jesse L Martin Meet Iris West-Allen's Mother?
With the first season cliffhanger leaving audiences hanging, the CW network has plans underway for Season 2 of The Flash. Will Joe West (Jesse L. West) be able to shield his daughter, the future Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) when his wife and her mother returns?
In our first season recap, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) awoke from his coma, after being struck by lightning. Given super-speed powers, Barry belonged to small group of friends, Caitlin Snow (Panabaker), and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), who know his secret identity. They worked together against super villains, including Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and teamed up with the Arrow (Stephen Amell). But they never realized their true enemy was lurking within their midst, the Reverse-Flash (Cavanagh).
We mentioned before, Teddy Sears (Masters of Sex) actor will play the recurring role of Jay Garrick, the Silver Age Flash. Viewers caught a glimpse of Jay's iconic winged helmet in the first season finale. In his arrival, Jay warns Barry and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs about an impending danger that he alone cannot stop.
During the recent Dragon Con, as transcribed by Collider, Patton reveals Iris West will have an emotional arc this upcoming sophomore season, "Mama West has been absent from Iris' life for a very long time. She's been told one thing but comes to find out that it's the opposite, that it's not true, that her mother has been gone for a very different reason, and that comes as a shock to Iris. She has to struggle through that."
As we previously mentioned, in the comic books, Iris West's full name is Iris Ann Russell West Allen. In the DC Universe, the Russells, from the future timeline, are Iris' biological parents. In danger from the Reverse-Flash, the Russells sent Iris to the past to her adoptive mother, Ira. Will Iris (Patton) discover she's actually adopted?
Season One ofThe Flash arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray September 22, 2015. The Flash returns for Season 2 on Tuesday, October. 6, at 8/7c.
