Court Gives Chris Brown Joint Custody of Baby Royalty With Ex-Girlfriend Nia Guzman
Chris Brown is probably one relieved father! MStars News has learned that the R&B singer won joint custody of his daughter, Royalty, who he shares with former girlfriend, Nia Guzman. According to TMZ, Breezy gets to take Royalty with him back to California, after duking it out in court with his baby mama, Guzman, in a Houston courtroom early Friday. Guzman didn't want Brown to have any custodial rights and she only wanted Brown to be granted supervised visitation.
The judge didn't agree with Guzman and believed that the parents should share custody of baby Royalty 50/50. So that means the 1-year-old toddler will be going back and forth every four days to divide time between each parent. The tossing around between the parents won't be too difficult however, since they both live in Los Angeles at this point. In the photo below, Brown stood beside his representatives, after his victory.
Brown's attorney was Mark Geragos. The judge in the case also made Brown's day by ordering him to continue to pay Guzman $2,500 a month in child support, instead of the $15,000 she had requested. The judge was clearly not playing games when they ordered Guzman not to bad mouth her child's father, or talk to the public about the case. Guzman was also warned not to share anything on social media about the case. Apparently, this warning was not issued to Brown considering his recent posts. Brown has truly faced a lot of ups and downs after the world learned he had a daughter. Just last month, the man who believed Royalty was his, King Ba, was involved in bank fraud scams, and it was believed that he and Guzman were behind Brown's home invasion that happened over the summer. On a positive side of fatherhood, Brown previously said that Royalty was the best thing that happened to his life. "A lot has changed in my life, a lot of mistakes, a lot of lessons learned. The best thing, I'm most thankful for is my daughter," Brown stated during the 2015 BET Awards back in June. "At the end of the day, love is love." MStars News is glad that he will get to watch his daughter grow up!
