Justin Timberlake New DreamWorks Film ‘Trolls’: “Mirrors” Singer Lands Lead Role in Movie
Justin Timberlake has landed the lead role in the children's animation movie by DreamWorks, Trolls, which will be the first movie the “Mirror” singer has done since his son's birth.
The 20/20 crooner has officially signed on to the DreamWorks animation movie, and will be joined by actress Anna Kendrick for the sure-to-be adorable children’s film. The plot of Trolls is set around a group of beloved trolls and their colorful manes, with Timberlake playing the role of Branch.
His role has been described as a "hilariously hardcore survivalist who hides his surprising true colors," as he sets out on an adventure to find his true colors and test his strength with Princess Poppy, played by Kendrick.
There is also set to be musical mash-ups along the way, so expect some new tunes to come from both Timberlake and Kendrick.
There’s definitely a reflection of the singer taking the role since the birth of his 5-month-old son, Silas, making him seem to lean more towards children’s films while he starts to grow. It might be a few years until Silas is ready to see all of his daddy’s epic movie roles, but Trolls will surely be one of the first he may enjoy seeing with his father.
The DreamWorks film is set to be directed by Mike Mitchell, co-directed by Walt Dohrn, and produced by Gina Shay, who are all the same people who worked on Shrek Forever After years ago.
This isn’t the first children’s role for Timberlake, as he has also starred in the Shrek The Third film as King Arthur in 2007. The movie became a box office smash, following in the footsteps of the rest of the Shrek movies in the series, which all have become globally successful.
It will certainly be exciting to see Justin Timberlake take on a new children’s role as a new father.
